wordoverflows is designed to be played without an account and with as little data collection as possible. This page explains what is — and isn’t — stored when you play.

No accounts, no personal data

You don’t sign up or log in to play wordoverflows, and we don’t ask for your name, email, or any other personal information. We don’t build a profile on you.

Data stored on your device

wordoverflows saves a few things in your browser’s local storage so the game works the way you expect — for example your best score, daily streak, and preferences. This information stays on your device, is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

Analytics

wordoverflows uses Google Analytics to understand how the game is used (for example which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from) so we can improve it. This is aggregate, statistical data — it isn’t used to identify you personally. Google sets cookies to measure this; you can opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. See Google’s privacy policy for how they handle this data.

Advertising

wordoverflows does not currently show ads. If we add advertising (such as Google AdSense) in the future, we will update this policy to describe what it collects and how to opt out before it is enabled.

Children’s privacy

wordoverflows does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the game evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
